After completing my latest series of paintings for my upcoming exhibition Dancing Shoes, I felt the need to take a pause and return to my roots in sculpture. In Dancing Shoes, I explored the dynamic fusion of realism and abstraction, capturing the sense of movement in horses while preserving their nobility. The process of blending these two elements in my oil paintings has been incredibly rewarding, but after months of intense focus on the canvas, I was eager to reconnect with a medium that has always been close to my heart: clay.
It’s been a while since I last worked with clay, as the last time I indulged in this tactile form was last summer. Sculpting brings a different kind of satisfaction, one that I had missed deeply. Now, in the studio, I’m immersed once again in the malleability of the clay, shaping new forms that challenge my creativity in a fresh way. The tactile nature of working with this medium feels liberating, and I’m excited about the possibilities it presents.
The next phase of this sculptural journey is to experiment with colors and textures. I can already envision how the tactile surfaces and vibrant hues will add layers of depth and emotion to these pieces. It’s a new chapter that seamlessly complements my paintings, enriching my exploration of movement, form, and expression.
I’m truly enjoying the two distinct results—each medium has its own rhythm, and together they form a dialogue that reflects the evolution of my work. I can’t wait to see how these pieces develop and how the vibrant, textured layers will bring them to life.
